What to Expect on Sunday

When and where?

The service at Sovereign Grace Church begins at 10:00am at 401 Upchurch St., Apex, NC. The Contact page has a map if you need one.

What does a Sunday morning look like at Sovereign Grace Church?

Sovereign Grace Church thinks of Sunday as the most important time of our week. We gather to be the church, and we don't simply go to the church. It is a time to be encouraged and challenged, and not merely entertained; it is a time to worship and learn, and not merely spectate while others do.

You will be greeted warmly as you come through our doors, and someone will be there to answer any questions you have about where to go or when things happen. The music starts at 10:00am, and at that point everyone will take their seats.

What about your children's ministry?

For certain ages, you'll want to drop your children off before you enter the auditorium for worship. It can be helpful also to walk through the facility to be certain about where the classes are for each of your children.

The children's ministry is designed to be a safe, Bible-centered, creative, friendly, and encouraging time for your child. The content of the classes is often working through a story from the Scriptures and then learning what it teaches about God and ourselves. As children grow, the classes become more directed toward the attributes of God, the promises of God, theology, and the gospel.

Most children will be taken to their classes during the break after announcements (a little before 11:00am).

What is your worship like?

Our worship is crafted to remind you of essential truths but also to affect your heart. We sing a blend of the traditional hymns and newer songs from artists like Matt Redman, Tim Hughes, and Sovereign Grace Ministries. We use a full band to help us express our worship to God, and to encounter God himself while we worship. There is opportunity for people in the congregation to contribute, and on occasion these times will also include the Lord's Supper and baptisms.

What about your preaching?

We intend the teaching to be both faithful to God's word and also taught so that it can be applied right where you are. Our sermons are derived from the Scriptures, and we most often work through a specific book of the Bible. The gospel sits prominent in our sermons because it is the preeminent truth of the Scriptures. Throughout the history of the church, its preaching has always been a chief means of grace -- of instruction, change, and encouragement -- and we see this same emphasis in God's word itself.

Sovereign Grace Church: A place to serve others and a place for others to serve you. Please join us on a Sunday morning soon!
